There are various methods to check the Provident Fund balance without visiting the Provident Fund office. Every month, an employee makes a fixed contribution of 12 per cent of basic salary towards the Provident Fund account and the employer contributes an equal amount.

Here are 4 ways to check Employees Provident Fund balance:

  • Checking PF balance through SMS – To check the PF balance, you need to send SMS EPFOHO UAN ENG/HIN to 7738299899.  After sending the SMS, one will receive the last PF contribution and the balance details. One just needs to send SMS at 7738299899 but make sure it is from your registered mobile number. You can use the SMS service to know the EPF balance without any internet.
  • Checking PF balance through a missed call – To check PF balance, all you need to give a missed call to 011-22901406 from the mobile number registered on UAN portal. The call will atomically disconnect after two rings, then you will receive details about your PF balance.
  • Checking PF balance via EPFO portal–You can use EPFO portal to view your PF passbook. On accessing the EPFO website, click on ‘Member Passbook’ under the section for employees and login with your UAN and password. You need to click on the specific member ID to know the balance of that PF account.You need to click on the specific member ID to know the balance of that PF account. The contribution amount by employees and employer will be shown along with opening and closing balance along with PF interest.
  • Checking PF balance on UMANG app – You need to download Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance (UMANG) application, to get PF details, PF balance, KYC status, etc.
